Today’s Scripture:

Psalm 25:6-11

Lord, remember your compassion and faithful love—

they are forever!

But don’t remember the sins of my youth or my wrongdoing.

Remember me only according to your faithful love

for the sake of your goodness, Lord.

The Lord is good and does the right thing;

he teaches sinners which way they should go.

God guides the weak to justice,

teaching them his way.

All the Lord’s paths are loving and faithful

for those who keep his covenant and laws.

Please, for the sake of your good name, Lord, forgive my sins, which are many!

Food For Thought:

In my youth, I made a lot of choices that I wish I could forget. We all did! We all probably wish our parents and everyone we knew would forget, and we certainly wish God could forget those choices. What I know to be true is that God does one better. God forgives. God knows of our sinfulness, of our wrongdoing from youth through today, and God forgives ― because God is kind and willing and full of grace for each of us. God’s memory of our sin is not as big as God’s mercy and love for us. There is nothing so great that God won’t forgive. Turn it over. Let it go. Invite the mercy and love that God so graciously gives.

God, forgive me. Forgive me for my youth and my today. Forgive me for each step away from you. Thank you for your mercy and love. Thank you for your patience. Guide me each day back to your loving and faithful path. Amen.
