Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teaching. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Food For Thought:
“Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” (The mission of the United Methodist Church.)
Jesus said we are truly his disciples if we remain faithful to his teaching. So if we live out love, openness, devotion, generosity and peace, then we are among Jesus’ disciples. If we live for the sake of God and our neighbor, then we are among Jesus’ disciples. If we develop disciplines of faith to keep us deeply connected to Jesus Christ, then we are among his disciples. The United Methodist Church believes that disciple-living will not only transform each of our lives, but it can ultimately transform our world. Have you taken the step into discipleship with Jesus? Are you following him daily, practicing disciplines that allow you to continue to know him more? What’s the next for you on your journey with Jesus?*
God, I don’t know what the next step is yet, but I do know that it is time to take it. Help me remain faithful to your teaching so that I can walk with you, know you more and help you transform the world in your name. Amen.
