Today’s Scripture:

Psalm 56:8-11

You yourself have kept track of my misery.

Put my tears into your bottle—

aren’t they on your scroll already?

Then my enemies will retreat when I cry out.

I know this because God is mine.

God: whose word I praise.

The Lord: whose word I praise.

I trust in God; I won’t be afraid.

What can anyone do to me?

Food For Thought:

“Joy does not come from positive predictions about the state of the world. It does not depend on the ups and downs of the circumstances of our lives. Joy is based on the spiritual knowledge that, while the world in which we live is shrouded in darkness, God has overcome the world. Jesus says it loudly and clearly: ‘In the world you will have troubles, but rejoice, I have overcome the world.’ The surprise is not that, unexpectedly, things turn out better than expected. No, the real surprise is that God’s light is more real than all the darkness, that God’s truth is more powerful than all human lies, that God’s love is stronger than death.” –From Here and Now by Henri J. M. Nouwen

Lord, you are bigger than all of my pain. You are stronger than all my suffering. You are mightier than all my sin. You are good in a world with so much hurt. You remain good when I am broken. I trust you, God. I know that you love me at all times. Fill me with confidence and joy in your presence and mercy. Amen.
