Today’s Scripture:
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;
he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long.
Food For Thought:
This has always been one of my favorite Psalms. It is often read at funerals. It is a beautiful Psalm that reminds us that God is with us always. God never forsakes us or leaves us. God stands by our side each day. This is a wonderful promise that we have been given. How do you see God involved in your life? How have you felt God to be an abiding presence?
Prayer:
God of all who wander in the wilderness,
you go before us as beacon and guide.
Lead us through all danger,
sustain us through all desolation,
and bring us home to the land
you have prepared for us. In your precious name we pray, Amen.
