Today’s Scripture:
1 Corinthians 11:23-26
For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Food For Thought:
In this passage of Scripture, the apostle Paul talks about how Communion is a sacred act within the life of believers. Taking Communion is a beautiful sacrament in which we commune with God and commune with others. Think of a special time when you have taken Holy Communion. What made that Communion experience so sacred?
Prayer:
Eternal God, in the sharing of a meal
your son established a new covenant for all people,
and in the washing of feet
he showed us the dignity of service.
Grant that by the power of your Holy Spirit
these signs of our life in faith
may speak again to our hearts,
feed our spirits, and refresh our bodies. In your holy and sacred name we pray, Amen.
