Today’s Scripture:

Hebrew 12:1-2, Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, 2looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.

Food for Thought:

I am not much of a runner. But what I know about runners is that they develop endurance. They start small, running 5 or so miles and then they work their way up until they have developed more endurance. The same is true for our spiritual lives. We can start small and work our way up to doing more great things.

Holy God, who call your people to sustain the weary and protect the oppressed. Uphold us in our concern and strengthen us, that we may not only speak our prayers but act on behalf of their fulfillment. Amen.
