Today’s Scripture:

Psalm 130

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.

Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!

If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?

But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;

my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.

O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem.

Food For Thought:

In this Psalm, the Psalmist feels alone and afraid. Think of a time in your life that you have felt this way. What helped to get you past the fear and the feeling of loneliness? Was there a special friend that stepped in during your hour of need? If so, send a note of thanks to that friend.

Keeper of our lives,
you know the hardness and gentleness of human hearts.
 You call your people to faithful living. Through the storms of life
that bring suffering and fear, joy and laughter,
teach us to turn to you for all we need,
 so that we may come to know your presence
even in the midst of the trials that surround us. Amen.
