Today’s Scripture:

Psalm 70

Be pleased, O God, to deliver me. O Lord, make haste to help me!

Let those be put to shame and confusion who seek my life. Let those be turned back and brought to dishonor who desire to hurt me.

Let those who say, “Aha, Aha!” turn back because of their shame.

Let all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let those who love your salvation say evermore, “God is great!”

But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay!

Food For Thought:

The line that stands out to me in this passage of Scripture is that God is “my help and my deliverer.” When have you felt that God helped you through a particular situation or delivered you from a particular situation? How did it feel to have God involved in your life in such an intimate way? When have you sought to help others or deliver others from a difficult situation? How did that make you feel?

Prayer:

Love divine,

in raising Christ to new life

you opened the path of salvation to all peoples.

Send us out, with the joy of Mary Magdalene,

to proclaim that we have seen the Lord,

so that all the world may celebrate with you

the banquet of your peace. Amen.
