1 Corinthians 11:23-26
For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Food For Thought:
There is something so powerful about the sacrament of Holy Communion. In it, we are joined as Christians with one another and with God in a profound way. There is something so moving to know that for generations the followers of Christ have taken this practice to heart. It reminds us that we are to give our lives over to God and to be willing to sacrifice for the good of others. Think about one way you can sacrifice for others. Can you do that today?
O God, at this evening hour,
the risen Christ revealed himself to his disciples
in the breaking of bread.
Feed us with the bread of life
and break open our hearts,
that we may know him
not only in the good news of the scriptures,
but risen in the midst of your pilgrim people. Amen.
