Today’s Scripture:
Psalm 119:9-16
How can young people keep their way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.
With my whole heart I seek you;
do not let me stray from your commandments.
I treasure your word in my heart,
so that I may not sin against you.
Blessed are you, O Lord;
teach me your statutes.
With my lips I declare
all the ordinances of your mouth.
I delight in the way of your decrees
as much as in all riches.
I will meditate on your precepts,
and fix my eyes on your ways.
I will delight in your statutes;
I will not forget your word.
Food For Thought:
In this passage of Scripture, the Psalmist talks about being pure and blameless for God. He talks about speech and action. I have always had a difficult time with the speech aspect of my faith. I have a hard time holding my tongue and not saying exactly what I’m thinking. Think about your own spiritual life. What is the one thing that trips you up the most?
Prayer:
Sovereign God, you have established your rule over the human heart, not by force but by the servant example of Jesus Christ. Move us by your Spirit to join the joyful procession of those who confess Christ Jesus with their tongues and praise him with their lives. Amen.
