Today’s Scripture:

Psalm 22:15-31

From you comes my praise in the great congregation; my vows I will pay before those who fear him.

The poor shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek him shall praise the Lord. May your hearts live forever!

All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord; and all the families of the nations shall worship before him.

For dominion belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations.

To him, indeed, shall all who sleep in the earth bow down; before him shall bow all who go down to the dust, and I shall live for him.

Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord,

And proclaim his deliverance to a people yet unborn, saying that he has done it.

Food for Thought:

My favorite line in this passage is that the “poor shall eat and be satisfied.”  This is a wonderful thing to talk about, but more importantly is how we go about making sure that this happens.   Think about a certain type of program that feeds people and help that organization if you are able.  If you are strapped monetarily, pray for that organization.

Holy God, you have called us to follow in the way of your risen Son and to care for those who are our companions, not only with words of comfort, but with acts of love.  Guide us in the path of discipleship so that, as you have blessed us, we may be a blessing for others, bringing the promise of the kingdom nearby our words and deeds. In your holy and precious name we pray, Amen.
