Today’s Scripture:

Psalm 130

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.

Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!

If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?

But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;

my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.

O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem.

It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

Food For Thought:

The line that stands out to me is: “…hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love.” Think of how you have placed your hope in the Lord. Think of how you have placed your hope in other things or people, and they have let you down. Hope is a forward thinking idea. We hope that ___ happens. Hope is optimistic. Place your hope in God and God will not disappoint you.

Prayer:

Holy Lord, maker of us all,

you call us to love our neighbors as ourselves

and teach us that faith without works is dead.

Open us to the opportunities for ministry that lie before us,

where faith and words and the need of our neighbor

come together in name of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.
