Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts.
Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.
Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; righteousness and peace will kiss each other.
Faithfulness will spring up from the ground, and righteousness will look down from the sky.
The Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase.
Righteousness will go before him, and will make a path for his steps.
Food For Thought:
This passage reminds us of the importance of listening for God. All too often I hear people say that God does not speak to them, but I think this is mainly a failure on our part to listen. To be still and know that God is God. To listen to that still small voice. To be quiet long enough to hear God. Today I want you to take a chunk of time out of your day and sit and wait for the voice of God. What did you hear?
In your compassionate love, O God,
you nourish us with the words of life and bread of blessing.
Grant that Jesus may calm our fears
and move our hearts to praise your goodness
by sharing our bread with others. Amen.
