Today’s Scripture:

Psalm 119:33-40

Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes, and I will observe it to the end. Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart. Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it. Turn my heart to your decrees, and not to selfish gain. Turn my eyes from looking at vanities; give me life in your ways. Confirm to your servant your promise, which is for those who fear you. Turn away the disgrace that I dread, for your ordinances are good. See, I have longed for your precepts; in your righteousness give me life.

Food for Thought:

My favorite line in this passage of Scripture is, “Turn my eyes from looking at vanities.”  What vanities consume your life? Do you place God first in your life or is God an afterthought in your life?

God of love and grace, we come before you this day thankful for the way in which you move in our lives. Turn our hearts from vain things to holy things so that we may be your faithful children in the world. Remind us of the importance of your order and help us to forget the world’s order. Let us put faith, hope, love, forgiveness and grace into practice in our lives. In your name we pray, Amen.
