Today’s Scripture:

Psalm 139:13-18

You are the one who created my innermost parts;
    you knit me together while I was still in my mother’s womb.
I give thanks to you that I was marvelously set apart.
    Your works are wonderful—I know that very well.
My bones weren’t hidden from you
    when I was being put together in a secret place,
    when I was being woven together in the deep parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my embryo,
    and on your scroll every day was written that was being formed for me,
    before any one of them had yet happened.
God, your plans are incomprehensible to me!
    Their total number is countless!
If I tried to count them—they outnumber grains of sand!
    If I came to the very end—I’d still be with you.

Questions to Ponder:

Do you ever stop to think about how unique you are in the world and how that uniqueness is part of God’s plan? Like the psalmist, do you give thanks for being so “marvelously set apart” or do you bow to pressure to conform? Do you ever wonder what it would feel like to be authentic every minute of the day? Do you recognize that God has bestowed upon you distinct gifts and that others may only benefit from these gifts if you strive to make them visible?

Prayer for Today:

Loving and Gracious God, thank You for loving me enough to make me a unique person. Forgive me when I am insecure and want to fit in, instead of being who I truly am. Help me to cultivate and use the gifts You bestowed upon me so that I may glorify You and help others. Amen.
