Today’s Scripture:
Genesis 1:1-5
In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
Food For Thought:
This passage of Scripture always makes me think about God as the creator. God creates out of nothing and everything that God created, God declares is good. Think about your personal life. Have you ever created something out of nothing? How did that feel? How do you understand God to be a creator God? What in creation gives you a sense of awe?
Prayer:
God of grace and glory,
you call us with your voice of flame
to be your people, faithful and courageous.
As your beloved Son
embraced his mission in the waters of baptism,
inspire us with the fire of your Spirit
to join in his transforming work.
We ask this in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ,
who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
