Today’s Scripture:

Genesis 1:1-5
In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth,
the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.
God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

Questions to Ponder:

When you think about the power of God, do you consider the wonder of his creations? Do you consciously invite the light of God into the dark moments of your life? When a spiritual night falls and leaves your soul feeling weary and broken, do you trust the Lord to lead you to the breaking light of morning?

Prayer for Today:

Protective and loving God, help me to understand that your presence is closer than that of my own beating heart. Please assist me when I can only see darkness before me. Know that I am grateful for each and every dawn, where Your majesty is bright and Your comfort restores me. Amen.
