O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.
Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger.
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established;
what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?
Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor.
You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet,
all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field,
the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Food for Thought:
In this passage, the writer asks God, what are human beings that you are mindful of them. Throughout Scripture we are told that God cares for human beings. God even knows the number of hairs on our heads. This unconditional love is a wonderful promise that we are given by God. Think of how this unconditional love of God has blessed your life.
Almighty God, majestic and wonderful are the works of your hands. You set the sun in the heavens to warm our days. You rolled the moon and stars in your hands, and flung them across the skies to light up the night. You formed us in your image and breathed into us the breath of life. We spend our days immersed in your love, breathing in your grace and love with every breath that we take. We spend our nights filled with the assurance of your presence. Your love is everlasting, and we come into your presence with thanksgiving, praise, and wonder. As people who know brokenness and sorrow, we are grateful for your presence in our lives. Help us to always stand in Awe and Wonder of the world that you created, Amen.
