1 Corinthians 1:3-9
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus, for in every way you have been enriched in him, in speech and knowledge of every kind— just as the testimony of Christ has been strengthened among you— so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you may be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful; by him you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Food For Thought:
The theme that stands out to me in this passage of Scripture is thankfulness―partly because we just finished the Thanksgiving holiday but partly because I believe that thankfulness is an important part of our spiritual life: thanking God for the way in which God has worked in our lives, thanking others when they reach out to us, thanking people in the service industry, thanking everyone that we encounter. Thankfulness spreads like wildfire. When we are thankful, it changes our entire perspective on life and those around us. So today, I would encourage you to clothe yourself in thankfulness.
God of timeless grace,
you fill us with joyful expectation.
Make us ready for the message that prepares the way,
that with uprightness of heart and holy joy
we may eagerly await the kingdom of your Son, Jesus Christ,
who reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.
