Today’s Scripture:

Malachi 3:1-4

See, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me, and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple. The messenger of the covenant in whom you delight—indeed, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap; he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the descendants of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, until they present offerings to the Lord in righteousness. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of old and as in former years.

Food For Thought:

The theme that stands out to me in this passage of Scripture is Malachi talking about a messenger of God. What do you think it means to be a messenger of God? How do you spread the message of God’s infinite love and forgiveness to others? What are some of the most powerful ways that you can serve others?

O God of all the prophets,

you herald the coming of the Son of Man

by wondrous signs in the heavens and on the earth.

Guard our hearts from despair so that we,

in the company of the faithful

and by the power of your Holy Spirit,

may be found ready to raise our heads

at the coming near of our redemption,

the day of Jesus Christ. Amen.
