Today’s Scripture:

Isaiah 35:4-7a
Say to those who are of a fearful heart, “Be strong, do not fear! Here is your God. He will come with vengeance, with terrible recompense. He will come and save you.”  Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the speechless sing for joy. For waters shall break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert; the burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water; the haunt of jackals shall become a swamp, the grass shall become reeds and rushes.

Food For Thought:

The line that stands out to me is: “Be strong, do not fear!” Think about what it means to be strong in the Lord. How do you find strength in God? How do you find comfort in God? How does your relationship with God give you strength? Think about how God is calling you to step out in faith. What is holding you back? Can you pray for strength from God in order to reach out to someone or some group of people that you wouldn’t normally reach out to?

God, whose love streams like fresh water

into the deserts of our hearts,

you turn us from greed and partiality

to healing and justice.

Make us companions of those who long for your deliverance,

and give us safe passage at the last into the land of your shalom. Amen.
