1 Corinthians 5:6b-8
Your boasting is not a good thing. Do you not know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? Clean out the old yeast so that you may be a new batch, as you really are unleavened. For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed. Therefore, let us celebrate the festival, not with the old yeast.
Food For Thought:
This is a dear friend of mine’s favorite passage of Scripture. I have enormous respect for this man because of who he is and the closeness of his walk with God. He quite often uses this passage of Scripture in his preaching and teaching. He talks about how some old yeast can make the whole batch go bad. What a powerful image. Think about some of the old habits that you have that are holding you back from experiencing a fullness in your relationship with Christ. Can you shed these old habits?
O God, your Son remained with his disciples after his resurrection, teaching them to love all people as neighbors. As his disciples in this age, we offer our prayers on behalf of the universe in which we are privileged to live and our neighbors with whom we share it. In your sacred and holy name we pray, Amen.
