Today’s Scripture:

Psalm 67

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us that your way may be known upon earth, your saving power among all nations.

Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you.

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth.

Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you.

The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, has blessed us.

May God continue to bless us; let all the ends of the earth revere him.

Food For Thought:

When I read this Scripture, I think of blessings.  The psalmist blesses God for all the wonderful blessings in life.   Today, take a moment to pause and think about the many blessings in your own life.  What blessings are you thankful for?  What could you do to bless another person this day?  How could you develop an attitude of gratitude in your life, thanking God for the many blessings in your life and muttering under your breath when things don’t go right?  Some of the most thankful people I know are people that have very difficult lives, but they see God’s presence in spite of the difficulties in their lives.  They see life itself as a blessing.  Think about ways we can view the world other than with critical eyes.

Holy God, you have called us to follow in the way of your risen Son, and to care for those who are our companions, not only with words of comfort, but with acts of love.  Guide us in the path of discipleship, so that, as you have blessed us, we may be a blessing for others, bringing the promise of the kingdom near through our words and actions.  In your holy and sacred name we pray, Amen.
