First, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a smooth re-entry into work and school this week. In the church calendar, this time of year is designated as “Advent,” a time of spiritual reflection and preparation for the arrival of the Christ child on Christmas morning. Our theme is “Joy to the World,” and our Gathering services will celebrate why, exactly, Jesus is a cause for joy.
Before this Sunday’s message, I want you to reflect on your image of God. What do you think God is like? What is God’s personality? How does God act towards people, feel towards people, treat people? Who do you think God is like?
Last week the Gathering reflected together on how Jesus is a cause for joy because Jesus reveals to us that God is always present and at work in our lives. This week, our cause for joy is that Jesus reveals to us what God is like and who God is like. No matter whether you’re new to faith or have been in church your entire life, the answer may surprise you.
The Christmas season is upon us, and it’s time to celebrate! Bring a friend and join us on Sunday for delicious coffee, Christmas carols, and a message that speaks directly to your everyday life.
God bless y’all!
