Thank you for your enthusiastic spirit!
In March, when we locally began this pandemic phenomenon, we ventured into the unknown certainly with no expectations except that First Church was going to be here for our flock and to provide the ministries and programs to the best of our ability.
Our members stepped up with encouraging responses in support of doing ministry in a new way. Clergy and staff were energized by this response which fueled creative juices for ministry and program development.
First Church members continue to respond. You are not only engaged in this new “normal” for ministering, but you are also embracing it, as evidenced by you showing up to online worship services, Bible studies, and virtual Vacation Bible School; by answering calls for palm branch wavers or for personal recordings of scripture readings; by coming together to perform as a virtual choir and/or participating in food drives for our most vulnerable community members; and by financially supporting not only the ministries, but also generously giving in special areas such as the Next90 Phase 1 Campaign, Methodist Justice Ministries, and First Street Methodist Mission.
I have said it before but I believe it bears repeating… we know there are many other worthwhile options for where you can choose to give or not to give.
Thank you for making First Church a priority. Because of you, First Church ministries continue to bring comfort, hope, and “soul food” to our own disciples as well as to individuals who are finding us online.
As we continue to move through the summer, we remain so grateful for your discipleship and enthusiasm!
God can do anything, you know — far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Ephesians 3:20-21 (The Message)
