For some of us, Black Friday means “shop till you drop.” For others (and those who still have items on their list after Black Friday and can manage to drag themselves to a computer), Cyber Monday deals are just a click away. Still others prefer to shop all season long, and even enjoy the adrenaline rush of Christmas Eve shopping. Regardless of your gift shopping style, #GivingTuesday means taking a few moments to bring your holiday focus back to the true meaning of Advent giving.
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving — #GivingTuesday — offers you the opportunity to blast through the retail commercialism of the season with the gift of financial support for organizations that make a true difference in the lives of those they serve.
More than 40,000 partners in 71 countries join together on #GivingTuesday with one common purpose in mind: to celebrate and encourage giving to something that is important to you. For FUMCFW, #GivingTuesday donations will support our annual Christmas Offering, which is a collective donation benefiting:
- Kids Hope USA
- Infant Formula Program
- Methodist Justice Ministry
- Food 4 Kids
- Kenya Orphan Endeavor
- Costa Rica Ministry
- Providence Place (Formerly Methodist Mission Home)
- Women & Children’s Interim Housing at Presbyterian Night Shelter
- Methodist Children’s Home in Waco, Texas
- The World Service Fund
This is a great opportunity to give and support these vital ministries of our faith community. Plus, you can share your giving stories on social media. This is a good way to tell other people about the organizations we support so they have the chance to join us — for this day of giving and throughout the year.
