Good Book Club | Children’s Wing, 2nd floor
We’ll kick off September Good Book Club with a meal in Wesley Hall, followed by the parenting session featuring Suzanne Stevenson from The Parenting Center. Suzanne’s presentation on “Managing Temper Tantrums and Time Outs” will give you tips to help with those challenging moments.
The kids will have Good Book Club in the Children’s Wing. Our theme for October is “That Makes Me Uncomfortable!” Each book features characters who speak up and speak out for themselves or others.
3rd Grade and Older
“Charlotte’s Web” by E.B. White
In this all-time classic Wilbur’s fate, as a pig on a farm, is all but decided. That is until a spider named Charlotte steps in and speaks up for her friend the best way she knows how.
2nd Grade and Younger
“What Does It Mean To Be Safe?” by Rana DiOrio, illustrated by Sandra Salsbury
I want every parent to know about Little Pickle Press. They are putting out very thoughtful children’s books, such as “What Does It Mean to Be Present?”, “What Does It Mean to Be Kind?”, and “What Does It Mean to Be Global?”
“The Day the Crayons Quit” by Drew Daywalt, illustrated by Oliver Jeffers
It’s funny. It’s creative. It’s the picture book that took the world by storm. And it’s about speaking up for yourself!
