Your health is important to us — and so is your privacy! Being in the hospital can be a difficult time, and whether or not you would like to receive visits from our pastoral care team, it’s up to you and your loved ones to let us know what kind of support you’d like to receive from your First Church pastoral care team.

The key to having exactly the support you want and need, however, is making that phone call. Because your private health information is protected under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), even when you list FUMCFW as your church home on your hospital admission forms, that doesn’t mean we’ll be notified. While this is confusing — why do they even ask? — it’s the law that not everyone fully realizes keeps us from knowing you’re there.

And, while we always want to be there for you, sometimes having visitors can make a hard time even harder and you’d just prefer to put your full focus on healing! Either way, know that the love of your church surrounds you at times like these, and we’re always just a phone call away.
