A lot is happening in the life of our church and especially in the life of our Children’s Ministry, led by Mister Mark! The first ever virtual Summer Jam has come to a close, but it was only virtual in title, the connections these kids made are real, the memories they made are real, and their relationships to God are real.
All of us here at FUMCFW can’t wait to find out what our Summer Jam kids came up with in their songwriting workshop! Hopefully, they’ll soon share the song they wrote last week about how love has the power to conquer anything. Whether or not you are involved directly with this program, please celebrate with us how our First Church kids are still gathering together – in new and exciting ways.
And although Summer Jam is over, the rest of our summer fun is just beginning! The final day to register for this year’s Vacation Bible School is this Friday. In this highly interactive, digital VBS experience, your kids will discover the strength of God’s power by exploring how we put on the armor of God. They’ll take on the role of brave Knights as we learn about God’s Kingdom. They’ll explore the different pieces of God’s protective armor – the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Justice, the Shoes of Peace, the Shield of Faith, and the Helmet of Salvation.
We already have over 250 kids registered, so, if you haven’t had time to sign up, now is your chance to discover the wonder and awe that is VBS at First Church. The kiddos registered for VBS will receive a safely packed bag filled with some fun take aways and special VBS projects for your “socially distant knights of North Castle” to play with and use all week long.
Additionally, every day, our Children’s Ministry team will be sending out daily activities and videos to keep your kids active in their relationships with God. They’ll learn that we don’t always need swords and spears in order to help our fellow human, sometimes we need the Bible which is more powerful and more peaceful. Mister Mark explains, “I know it’s not the same as in-person VBS, but we will still have our music, puppet shows, a special visit from Sir Bruster the Brave, Lady Em the magnificent, and Sir Mike…the Participant, interactive daily bible stories, science demonstrations, take home t-shirts and CD’s, and of course, everyone’s favorite collector’s cards supporting our Kenya and local Missions.” The format will be digital, but the fun will be very real.
Our Children’s team at First Church have had to work hard to create new and innovative ways to keep learning and growing our relationships during this difficult time. They have produced some very special ways to help stay connected, even though we may be physically distant, our hearts and minds can still feel connected – to God, and to one another.
