Singing Outside the Box

By January 11, 2018

When it comes to tradition, Centenary College Choir is known for its innovative spirit and unique programming. From Bach to Broadway, “America’s Singing Ambassadors” engage audiences through an eclectic repertoire and heartfelt music making. Our own Senior Pastor Dr. Tim Bruster, who was once a part of this creative choir, shares a few of its interesting traditions for concerts:

  • Its founder and first director for many years, Dr. A.C. “Cheesy” Voran, had a special hand symbol and saying of “Put it on the top shelf” before going on stage that the choir has continued ever since
  • Alumni are invited to come up and sing “Tenebrae factae sunt”
  • Every performance ends with “May the Lord bless you and keep you,” and choir members add MTLBYAKY to their signatures

Join us on Sunday, January 28, at 9:30 and 11:00 am as the Centenary College Choir, under the direction of Dr. David Hobson, presents choral music (and maybe even some of its cherished traditions) during our traditional Sanctuary worship services.

This spring we will have at least two concerts each month in The Gift of Music Concert Series.Check out what’s coming up next!
