Pickleball, Anyone?

By February 28, 2020

Come fill your PLAY with the FUMCFW Pickleball group!

The FUMCFW Pickleball ministry is in full swing, welcoming all kinds of people and players at every level of fitness and ability each Tuesday night or Wednesday afternoon to the Justin gym! FUMCFW Pickleball is a great way to add some very beneficial PLAY to your Healthy Plate — while enjoying fun and fellowship with fellow church members and guests.

No experience required, there’s always a “teaching court” where first-timers can quickly pick up the basics and are usually playing by the evening’s end. Matches are randomly assigned, with a constant rotation that allows you to play with and enjoy the camaraderie and fun with as many people as our two-hour session will allow!

Regardless of your level or experience — or even if you’ve never played at all — Pickleball is a simple game that’s easy to play and fun for all ages and athletic abilities. It involves a ball, a paddle, a court, a net, and usually four people.

Some call it a mix of ping pong, tennis, and racquetball. Others call this strange new sport now sweeping the nation “a whole lot of fun” and “exercise you don’t even know you’re getting.”

Recently, FUMCFW Pickleball welcomed Jack Hove to the courts for a wonderful clinic to help everyone up their game — and we’re hoping to invite him back for future clinics as our group continues to grow.

Curious? Mildly interested? Come give FUMCFW Pickleball a try! All you need is $5, water (and maybe a hand towel), and a readiness to have fun getting exercise and laughing with friends old and new! If you have a paddle, bring it — if not, we have plenty to borrow.

See you on the Pickleball Courts!
