There are no rules when it comes to giving. Jesus fed five thousand people with only five loaves of bread and two fish! The sky’s the limit, and we’re grateful that the Unbounded Generosity of our church family continues to reach new heights. These First Church members are just two of the many who give, and here’s why.
Lori & Steve Bruns: No Strings Attached
• Members since 2015
• Worship in The Gathering
• Daughter 7 and son 2 1/2 in Children’s Ministries
• Volunteer with VBS, Academy, and more
A few of their favorite things:
When we started attending, the church had a natural draw, and we really liked the Children’s Ministries. Now our youngest happily goes to Ms. Patsy and comes home talking about “Mister Mark and Cha Cha.” Our daughter enjoys the Children’s Choir and her Academy Sunday School Legos class.
Why they give:
Early on in our marriage, we regularly attended church and various Bible studies / small groups that strengthened and challenged our faith in different ways. We have felt that giving pulls out so much from our faith since giving is an act of obedience to God. We recognize that we have been blessed. We hope that we can be a blessing to others, help the needy, and help spread God’s love in our community, our city, and our world.
How it has impacted them:
Something really powerful happens when we give without strings attached, without expectation, or recognition. It’s literally up to God and it’s not about us. We have found giving to be a way to make a tangible sacrifice, seek humility, trust in God, and oppose greed. We have also found that giving ensures God has a foothold in our lives in all areas of discipleship.
