What’s a fly through, you ask?
A fly through of what, you may wonder?
When you watch the video below, you will embark on a virtual reality tour of our new master plan for building expansion. This simulated, animated reality puts you in the new expansion as it is now designed by HH Architects.
You’ll be among the first to move through the spacious fellowship rotunda that will connect our faith community as never before. You’ll enter the new multipurpose worship and dining space that will facilitate churchwide dinners, events, and dramatic presentations, as well as provide expanded worship space for The Gathering. You’ll get a glimpse inside the exciting new children’s expansion, as well as the retooled and updated Wesley Hall. You’ll get a look at what our expanded campus will look like from the east, and how this new architecture will complement our existing historic beauty.
While staying true our architectural history and origins, this building expansion will offer exciting new ministry opportunities — and the spaces that will help them flourish — as our congregation takes its place as the visionary leaders who propel our church into its next 90 years of ministry.
On Sunday, November 18 there will be a final live presentation of this project at 12:30 pm in Wesley Hall. In addition to the information in the above videos, this will be an opportunity to hear a full financial plan for this project, get any of your questions answered, and educate yourself on our building expansion project ahead of the congregational vote. Please note that there is not another live presentation planned before the vote. Therefore, it is extremely important to attend this meeting and/or review all the information available at fumcfw.org/next90 so that you are fully informed before the vote!
Then, on Sunday, December 9 at 12:30 pm in the Sanctuary, our congregation will vote to move forward on this building expansion program according to the rules set out by the United Methodist Book of Discipline. This will be a brief churchwide meeting to hear a quick update, and then those members of the church and clergy present will cast their votes to move forward with this project to the fundraising phase. It is important to note that the December 9 vote is not a vote to build, but rather, a vote to move forward to pursue funding and more detailed planning.
These are exciting times in the life of our church. Like generations before us, we are faced with a rare opportunity to step out in faith to impact the future generations of First Church ministry.
