Exciting News in the Business Office!

By May 16, 2019

Starting May 1, our own Steve Fagan assumed the role of Director of Finance to begin making the transition for Larry Ammerman’s retirement on December 31. At this time Steve will transition into assuming responsibility for the church’s finances and supervisory roles for the business office. “I’m excited to take on the financial part of Larry’s duties,” Steve says. “I’m looking forward to becoming even more involved in the many ministries God is doing through FUMC Fort Worth.”

In the interim — and to make this transition as smooth as possible — Larry and Steve will begin shifting responsibilities so that Steve is familiar with all the financial duties of the church and Larry will reacquaint himself with some of the accounting duties. “I have truly loved serving as Business Administrator at FUMC. I am excited about a new stage of life and the prospect of having Steve take over the financial responsibilities for the church,” Larry reflects. “It is always nice to hand off your job to someone who will do as well or improve what you started.”

In January 2020 when the full transition takes place, we will most likely be searching for a replacement superhuman to fill Steve’s current position, and Larry will continue to provide volunteer assistance to support these transitions and continue to add his institutional knowledge and expertise to the church as Next90 building expansion project begins as well as work on special business and other projects. (after, of course, he puts in some serious time on the Appalachian Trail!)

“I think Steve brings a great heart to his new position,” remarks John Howard, FUMCFW Executive Director. “His past experience and Larry’s support and mentoring will serve the church extremely well going as we continue into the future of our congregation. I am extremely excited about the future.”

Steve has been with us as Associate Business Manager since February 2014. Prior to that he was a controller for a private company. He and his wife, Julie, are members of the church, having transferred their membership from Trinity United Methodist Church. Their adult daughter, Sarah Kunce, lives in New York City. (If you don’t already know about Sara’s career in theatre and dance, ask Steve to share some serious “proud Dad” moments!) Steve and Julie’s son, Sean is a recent graduate from UT Arlington with a major in music media and also sings professionally as part of Christ the King Catholic church’s choir. Julie is a 5th grade elementary school teacher in Arlington ISD.

We love our Steve and we love our Larry, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their service to our church and staff — and for how what could be a difficult transition will be made much easier by the generosity of spirit and expertise shared by the two of them.

Congratulations all around!
