August Strong!

By September 4, 2020

A resounding Thank You! to all our generous givers who have not only kept our First Street Methodist Mission able to provide groceries each Wednesday and Thursday to record numbers of hungry people in our community — and kept your payments and commitments to our Next90 Building Expansion project rolling in, but you’ve also kept your support of our ministry and operating budget going strong.

Director of Finance Steve Fagan reports this week that we closed out August at 99.95% of the total giving from last August, adding that this continued commitment and support from our congregation during this time of pandemic is a continuous affirmation that God is at work through us as we reach out to others during this difficult and uncertain time. “As of today we’re just down $86 for the month and down less than 1% for the year,” he adds. “That’s remarkable faithfulness!”

Echoing Steve’s sentiments and gratitude, Director of Stewardship Nancy Fisher adds that as we prepare our hearts for the upcoming 2021 Stewardship emphasis, November 1 – 22, it is with deep gratitude for the faithfulness of our First Church community during these COVID times. I so appreciate the continued endorsement of First Church’s online ministries as reflected by our congregation’s faithful giving, participation, and prayers,” Nancy adds. “God’s love is on the move through our digital presence, bringing hope, comfort, joy, and “soul food” to our flock.”

As the Summer of 2020 draws to a close, let’s all take a moment to celebrate together the wonderful work and ministry we have been able to do in this virtual world since March, thanks to YOU — and your generosity and commitment to the mission and ministries of our church.
