A Legend Among Us

By October 4, 2019

We’ve all known for quite some time that our beloved and recently retired Rev. Chuck Graff is legendary in his work, his commitment and his lifetime of ministry, and now we’ve learned that the long reach of “El Gigante” extends far beyond our walls to earn the “Living Legend Award” as one of Sixty and Better’s 2019 honorees to be recognized at its annual gala at River Ranch Stockyards on October 17.

As the youngest of the three Legends being honored in this Gala hosted by Kelli and Bob Phillips of TV’s Texas Country Reporter, Chuck is named to this honor as “an older adult leader who has made significant contributions to their community through their actions, talents, advocacy, and dedication.”

For more than five decades, Sixty and Better has lived up to its tagline: Empowering Older Adults to Live with Purpose, Independence, and Dignity since 1967 by providing a space for older adults to have fun, be well, and stay connected. Within its signature programs, Sixty and Better participants report significantly increasing their activity levels, healthy eating habits, social interactions, and opportunities to contribute to their community in meaningful ways.

This Boots & Bling fundraising gala will be held at the River Ranch Stockyards, located in the heart of the historic Fort Worth Stockyards 6:00 – 9:00 pm on Thursday, October 17. We would love to have a generous gathering of First Church family to support and honor Chuck as he receives this award. For tickets, more information about the event, the award, or the Sixty and Better organization, visit www.sixtyandbetter.org.

Congratulations, Chuck! As always, we are so proud of you and the positive reflection you shine for others — and most especially upon our church and faith community.
