Please Join us THIS Sunday August 4 as we celebrate the growing family of Rev. Lance and Elizabeth Marshall as three precious siblings ages 5 and under will soon join their family. Please stop by Room 350 between 10:30 and 11:00 am and 12:00 and 1:00 pm to wish them well and celebrate this new chapter in their lives. If you’d like to bring a gift, they are registered on Amazon, and gift cards to Walmart will also help sustain them as their family adjusts to its new size . . .Dr. Tim Bruster is on vacation and will be back in the pulpit August 25; in his absence Dr. Mike Marshall will be preaching for the next two weeks on the series, INVITED We Invite. Jesus Transforms in the Sanctuary and introducing our new fall emphasis on inviting people to church . . . Dr. Zhenya Gurina-Rodriguez will be preaching on this same topic in The Gathering throughout the month of August. . . . On August 18, come to the Sanctuary at 11:00 am for our annual Youth Sunday service and hear the surprising things our precious teens have been up to and show them how proud we are of their faithful work. Fall Academy registration now open and going, so register those kiddos if you haven’t already for the Children’s Ministry’s exciting new fall lineup. . . . this coming Sunday is the last Sunday of MorningSong before Choral Union kicks off its 2019-2020 season and concert series (Watch for details, coming soon!) . . . THIS Sunday FUMCFW welcomes Lacy Hayes, Trumpet, and Luigi Rinald, Saxophone, to Sanctuary worship at 9:30 and 11:00 am services for special music during our prelude, communion, and postlude . . . August is tube sock month at the First Street mission (watch this video to get inspired) . . . Congratulations to our Youth Ministry, led by Kat Bair, who just received a grant from the Texas Methodist Foundation by way of the Center for Youth Ministry Training to become a Youth Ministry Innovation Lab. This 18-month program will involve a team of seven including staff, lay leaders, teens, and parents who will be imagining together what Youth Ministry could look like in the next 100 years. . . please keep in your prayers Rev. Tom McDermott and the 24-member group he is leading to Ireland August 20 – 31 to explore the Sacred Spaces Tour of the Wild Atlantic Way. On the last Monday of August (8/26, the Monday before Labor Day) author Susan Robb will join Dr. Mike Marshall’s summer study group for lunch at 12:30 (location to be announced!). . . .
