“God’s Creative Grace”

Genesis, chapters 12, 15 and 16

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

(from “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost)

I don’t know about you, but I sometimes wonder about that road not taken — or even all those roads not taken. Robert Frost’s poem certainly tempts us to reflect on the choices and decisions which have become our life’s path. The “what-ifs” and the “what-might-have-beens.” When we had clear options, most of us made the best choice we could at the time — but how do we know it really was the best choice? And, of course, there are always other factors that influence which “road” we find ourselves on — some known to us, but beyond our control; others we have no idea what might have been working behind the scenes. And those ponderings can lead to other questions such as “Did I take the right turn?” “Am I on the road I should be on?” “Is there really a right road after all?” “And where is God in all this — directing the way? Controlling the way? Groaning at our choices? Aloof?”

SId J_FinalWEBTHE FOURTH PILLAR: MISSION & OUTREACH

Caring + Compassion = Can Do!

Five Decades of Mission & Outreach at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth

“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need.”

— Romans 12:10-13

Over the past five decades, the First Methodist Church of Fort Worth Foundation has grown to become a remarkably healthy endowment that supports the five pillars of our Church. Among other efforts, the Foundation has provided much needed funding to purchase, expand and renovate the First United Methodist Church’s Mission Building and to assist the Church community that creates and maintains ideal programs to meet the needs of thousands of less fortunate individuals and families in our area.

New Photo Feature on our FUMCFW Website

Web Gallery graphic

Look for the new scrolling photo gallery on our homepage, or click here to browse all of our albums now.

At long last, our home page photo gallery is live and ready to receive your photos! This new feature will serve as a giant composite photo library filled with dedicated albums related to the programs, events, and ministries of FUMC Fort Worth. Everyone is welcome to submit photos; our communications team will then review submissions and publish the images we receive to our home page gallery. With a composite storage place for photos taken by all the families, friends, and photographers among us — in addition to those taken by our communications team — we’ll be able to offer 24/7 access to this great collection of photos for our church family to enjoy, keep, and share.

Here’s how to share your photographs:

  • Following an event or program, or upon request, we will create and title an album for your event;
  • As soon as your album is created, we’ll publish a link for uploading your photos HERE. While there’s plenty of space, it’s very important to send only your best photos of each event (phone photos are fine!)
  • Click on the name of the event that you want to share photos from and upload!
  • When we receive a new upload, we’ll review, size and format, and then load your photos to our home page gallery.
  • We do reserve the right to crop, edit and remove any images that are of poor quality, inappropriate, or outside our editorial guidelines.

Foundation 50th Save the Date

Every day, each one of us builds something. A family. A career. A reputation. A life. Built upon our hopes and dreams, reflecting our values and ideals, shaped by our words and deeds. A hundred years from now, will the things that mattered to us still matter? Will the causes that stirred our hearts still incite passion? Will the purposes we lived for live on in others? When all is said and done, what do we leave behind? Through First Methodist Church of Fort Worth Foundation, you can make certain your gifts not only benefit others today, but countless generations in the future. The Foundation can help you build a legacy of compassion, service and devotion. To learn more go to www.fmcfoundation.org.
