“Connections”
Isaiah 5:1 – 7 & John 15:1 – 14
Jim Martin is living life to the fullest and understands the deep connection that he has had for a lifetime with friends who served with him on D-Day, 1944. He jumped 70 years later on June 6, 2014, in honor of the 70th anniversary of D-Day, acknowledging that special connection he has had with others that have been so transformational and meaningful in his life.

Supporting Renewal through Worship at First Methodist Church of Fort Worth
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
In May, my first message to you shared the VISION of our founders, the Foundation’s first pillar. Their vision foresaw how a legacy of contributions could enhance the experiences of generations to come. That visionary philosophy continues to support every aspect of our Church, in very many ways.

There Are All Different Kinds of Summer Camps – Music Camps, Sports Camps.
Here’s what the kids who attended Mission Day Camp did last week:
- Started each day with worship and song.
- Went on a Journey of Faith Nature walk and heard stories about Jesus every day.
- Helped bring in hundreds of children’s books for the Mission.
- Helped bring in (and refurbish) hundreds of toys for children in need.
- Raised over $650 dollars in loose change for the Mission! Wow!
- Filled 125 hygiene kits.
- Filled hundreds of healthy snack bags for the Mission.
- Made friendship cards for shut-ins at a local nursing facility.
- Made placemats for the Room in the Inn program.
- Decorated sacks for our church’s sack lunch program.
- Participated in several work projects around Lyle Lodge – weeding, planting, and mulching – the place looks amazing!
- Oh yeah, and your child also had music, games, water play, canoeing, and snacks.
Now, these children may not be able to hit a ball farther or play an instrument better than this time last week, but they took a step on a journey. On behalf of all those who had a part in it, I want to say how honored we were to be there for that step!

WELCOME BOXES NEEDED
On Sunday, we lifted up the children fleeing poverty and violence in Central America. At any given time 15 to 30 of these children are being temporarily sheltered at the Catholic Charities facility here in Fort Worth. To help these children we will be collecting COMPLETE Welcome Boxes at the First Street Methodist Mission and delivering them to Catholic Charities. Please assemble and clearly mark your Welcome Box so we can make sure it gets to the right place.
Please fill a plastic shoebox-sized container with:
Shampoo
Conditioner
Body Wash/Bar Soap
Toothpaste
Toothbrush
Brush/Comb
Pack of Hair Ties
Deodorant and Small Toy
Another way to help is to identify people who might be interested in becoming a foster family for some of these children.

It’s important to me that you feel known. That somebody understands who you are: what you’re passionate about, what you’re scared of, where you hope to go with your life. Our culture pull us towards selfishness and isolation, towards living life alone. But we’re at our best, we’re most alive and like our God, when we fight that pull and open our lives to relationships with people who know us even better than we know ourselves.
This Sunday we’ll talk a lot about God’s nature as a Holy Trinity. One set of adjectives used to expand on the Trinity is Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer. Not only does God work in the world in those ways, God works in your life in these ways. God created you, God redeemed you, God sustains you.

Every day, each one of us builds something. A family. A career. A reputation. A life. Built upon our hopes and dreams, reflecting our values and ideals, shaped by our words and deeds. A hundred years from now, will the things that mattered to us still matter? Will the causes that stirred our hearts still incite passion? Will the purposes we lived for live on in others? When all is said and done, what do we leave behind? Through First Methodist Church of Fort Worth Foundation, you can make certain your gifts not only benefit others today, but countless generations in the future. The Foundation can help you build a legacy of compassion, service and devotion. To learn more go to www.fmcfoundation.org.
