“Dual Citizenship”

John 17:1-11

Dr. Tim Bruster

Dear Friends, We love to travel. Through the years Susan and I have had the opportunity to travel outside the United States. When we were able, we took our daughters with us and gave them the gift of the experiences of other cultures, customs, food, and people. But, when you’re in another country, there is that feeling of not being completely at home. No matter how friendly the people are or how wonderful the place is, your citizenship is somewhere else. When we travel to other countries we are always citizens of the United States and that makes a difference in what we do, what we think, and what our experiences are like. That is not to say that everything is different, of course. There are similarities and common ground we can find in every place — no matter how different that place is from our own. After our First 7th worship service

THIS SUNDAY

June 1 | 5:00 to 6:00 pm  | 801 W. 5th St

we’re going to do something awesome.

We’re going to eat.

You may not consider eating awesome, but think back on some of the best times in your life. Birthday parties. Reunions with friends. Vacations. Weddings. Family gatherings. The spectacular and the regular, most of our favorite memories involve sharing meals together.

Why? Because this is how we celebrate.

“Breaking bread” is always about love. It’s about feeling good and enjoying the best life has to offer. It’s just like the wise Teacher says in Ecclesiastes: “There’s nothing better for human beings than to eat, drink, and experience pleasure in their hard work.”

So lets do that! Our dinner will be casual, served in a way where you can eat comfortably with your family and meet some new friends, too. This Sunday we celebrate the risen Christ, seated in heaven and empowering us through the Holy Spirit. That’s something to celebrate, and I can’t wait to celebrate with you!

6.1 CHILDREN’S MUSICAL THIS SUNDAY!

9:45 am | Sanctuary during Children First

We are so excited to welcome back Ken Medema to FUMCFW! Ken will be with the Children’s Choir and Junior Worship Leaders as they present Ken’s musical The Big Fish: Jonah’s Whale of a Tale. This version of Jonah and the Whale is uniquely told through a “film-noir” style, like an old-fashioned detective movie. Kids and adults alike will find both humor and truth in this creative musical.
