Easter Offering
Help bring the hope of resurrection to people living in despair with your prayerful gift to our “second mile” Easter Offering. Your gift provides direct support to many of the vital ministries of our church as we reach out to those beyond our immediate church family through the great work of the United Methodist Church:
FIRST STREET METHODIST MISSION: Supports the feeding ministries at the First Street Methodist Mission.
OUTREACH MINISTRIES: Supports the FUMC Methodist Justice Ministry, United Community Centers, Habitat for Humanity, and Child Development Programs for Homeless Children at the YWCA.
CHURCH GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT: Supports new church starts in the Central Texas Conference through the Shares Program. Please remember that the funds making possible our First 7th Community come from Church Growth and Development.
PERKINS SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY: Help fulfill our church’s commitment to provide the office of Global Theological Education in the new building at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.

Easter is over…. Well, at least Easter Sunday has come and gone, but because we are an “Easter People”, the resurrection story continues to be our story every day of our lives — even at those times that feel more like Good Friday. But life can throw some pretty difficult things at us, and it’s not unthinkable that we can fall prey to despair or question the faith that has, up to that point, sustained us. So this week, we turn to the “patron saint” of all those who falter with uncertainties or need to ask the deeper questions: Thomas (sometimes referred to as “Doubting Thomas”). “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands, put my finger in the wounds left by the nails, and put my hand into his side, I won’t believe.” Thomas needed more than someone else’s report — he needed his own experience of the risen Christ — and he wasn’t afraid to ask the question. Jesus did not reprimand him either.

5.4 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF MEALS ON WHEELS
On Sunday, May 4, we’ll celebrate a very special ministry moment honoring the 40th anniversary of Meals on Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County, with an offering envelope and online donation opportunity in recognition of four decades of the great work of this organization in our community. As you may know, our church was one of the founding churches of Meals On Wheels Inc. of Tarrant County, and many of our church members including Hope Slayden, Tillie Cross, June Gilmore, Nelda Gathings and Louise Carvey were instrumental in getting this important service started here in Fort Worth. Even today, our United Methodist Women still drive a route on the Southside and many members of our church have been recipients of these meals.
