“Maximum Living”
Matthew 5:38-48
Dr. Tim Bruster
Dear Friends,
The gospels record a number of questions asked by Jesus. One of those questions we find in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:47a): “And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what more are you doing than others?” In that section, Jesus is calling his disciples to a higher level of living: “what more are you doing than others?” Jesus calls us to maximum living. The question in maximum living is NOT “How little can I get by with?” That’s minimum living. The question in maximum living is “How much can I do in response to what God has done for me?”

From the south, go north on Forest Park to 5th Street, and then east on 5th Street to the church.
To exit church after services:

Peanut Butter Wars 2014
Help us win this challenge and, more importantly, help our neighbors in need by participating in Peanut Butter Wars 2014. Genesis United Methodist Church has accepted our challenge to see which church can collect the most peanut butter during the month of February. We lost this challenge last year – let’s not let that happen again!
There are THREE ways you can help:
1. Bring your jars of peanut butter to the Welcome Center on Sundays during February — or to the First Street Mission Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
2. Make a cash donation at the Welcome Center on Sundays. (Eager, bargain-sniffing peanut butter shoppers are standing by!)
3. Click here to donate online now! We’ll purchase and stack the peanut butter for you!
Questions? Contact First Street Methodist Mission at 817/335-6080.
Genesis UMC reported 449 Average Worship Attendance for 2013 while FUMCFW average attendance was 1,112. Therefore, FUMCFW needs to collect 2.5 times more ounces of peanut butter than Genesis does to win!
We currently have about 38,000 ounces, but to win, we need to ramp it up!! If you haven’t contributed yet, there’s still time – but you must act fast. February 28 is the last day to donate!
One more week—bring it!
