REV. PAGE HINES TO ASSUME NEW LEADERSHIP ROLE
Upon the recent retirement of Nancy Tully from her 14-year tenure as Director of Outreach Ministries, we are excited to announce that our own Reverend Page Hines will assume this position with a new title — and a somewhat different job description: Associate Pastor of Compassion and Justice Ministries. Stay tuned for more information as details of this new ministry unfold.
According to Senior Pastor, Dr. Tim Bruster, while most of Nancy’s former job description will be part of this new position, Page will also incorporate elements of her existing duties as Executive Director of the First Street Methodist Mission into the creation of this expanded ministry. “Page has both heart and passion for this work,” he adds, “and as Director of our First Street Mission since 2005 (in April 2014 Page became Executive Director of the First Street Mission and Elizabeth Becker assumed the role of Director), Page is intimately familiar with all the ways we are in ministry in this community and beyond. Her experience in this kind of work prepares her well for this expanded role, as does her already existing network of relationships within our community: with the City of Fort Worth, other non-profit organizations, and other area churches.” We look forward to Page’s leadership of our expanded Compassion and Justice Ministries!
WHAT A CELEBRATION!
On the last day of last month, we celebrated 50 years during an evening event at the Fort Worth Convention Center in the ballroom. The event was the culmination of a season of celebration that included a spring breakfast for our outstanding Church staff; efforts by our city, state and national elected officials to mark the milestone with letters, proclamations and even a presentation from the pulpit by Congresswoman Kay Granger; a series of informational inserts in the Sunday bulletins to inform our members about the Foundation’s donors and what their funds have helped accomplish; and Foundation Sunday, when our exquisite FUMC Sanctuary was filled with song as well as words, sermon and prayers to honor the vision of our founders and the spirit of their foresight. That spirit will enable us to carry their commitment of generosity into the future, for generations to come.
