tim_web“What Are You Leaving Behind?”

Matthew 4:12-23

Dr. Tim Bruster, Senior Pastor

Dear Friends,

Sunday we will continue our series entitled In This New Year with the account in Matthew of the calling of four of Jesus’ disciples: Simon Peter, Andrew, James and John. Jesus said to these fishermen, “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” They answered Jesus calling by following him, and when they began following Jesus, they left their boats and their nets and all the other fishing equipment. In the case of James and John, they left their father, Zebedee.

It’s clear that following means leaving. One cannot follow anyone or anything and stay put. To follow means to leave! Some of Jesus’ hardest words had to do with this reality, as we will see on Sunday.

Recent discoveries in neuroscience suggest that emotion plays a much more central role to human motivation and perception than has been previously thought. Roots of Change groups will explore a powerful theory of how these dynamics of human consciousness operate through an experiential process of group interaction allowing you to live with greater freedom, engage in more fulfilling relationships, reach your goals, and expand your spiritual life. There is no fee, but preregistration is required. Past participants who “paid it forward” through donations make this experience available for anyone interested. For more information about upcoming groups or to register, contact Marianne Wilson (mwilson@myfumc.org) at 817/339-5071.

To register or for more information, contact Marianne Wilson (mwilson@myfumc.org) at 817/339-5071.
