Faith in Action: Repairs in the Garden

staff_Roger Partridge_150With Easter Sunday this week, the FUMCFW Garden would normally have freshly planted, bright spring flowers to welcome everyone to our many Sunday morning worship opportunities. There has been some excavation going on in the Garden to repair some of the drainage lines that run underneath it, so we won’t be able to enjoy plants in those areas until the work is complete. The drainage issues caused some of the plaster problems in the Sanctuary, so the first priority was to waterproof the east Sanctuary wall. That work has been completed, but there are still some broken lines under the Garden that will need to be replaced. Many of these drainage lines date back to 1930 when the building was first constructed, and have become clogged or broken. It is a difficult process to identify the location of the broken lines and has taken longer than originally planned. We will be able to use the Garden this Sunday, but it might not be as colorful as usual. In a few weeks, we will once again be able to enjoy the beautiful weather and flowers as we gather to worship at our church.
