Sharing our gifts and resources with people around the world is a United Methodist tradition. And even beyond the work of The United Methodist Church, our church operates two long-term annual mission projects in Kenya and Costa Rica. For many years, members of FUMCFW have traveled each summer to these sites to carry on the work that previous teams launched. The Kenya Orphan Endeavor provides tuition and school uniforms to more than 100 orphan children. These teams have witnessed many of the children we serve in Kenya succeeding beyond expectations as they move to higher education levels than they ever dreamed of. In Costa Rica, more than 10 years of mission trips, resulting in the construction of a sanctuary, parsonage and medical clinic, as well as providing a Vacation Bible School opportunity to the children of this region, has developed many great relationships along with numerous construction accomplishments and facility successes. These ministries operate outside the church operating budget and must raise their own funding each year. In lieu of their annual Festival of Tables and Trees, on this coming Sunday, October 4, the Mission Teams Ministries Council will be hosting a Mission Teams Ministry Fair on 5th Street from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm to display their work, acquaint you with these missions, and ask for your support. I invite you to stop by the Mission Teams Fair on 5th Street and make a second mile gift to sponsor a child’s tuition in Kenya, building materials in Costa Rica, or both! I look forward to seeing you there!
