This week I want to tell you about a study I’m currently leading in our church. It’s called Financial Peace University, and Dave Ramsey, author and host of a nationally syndicated radio program is the founder of this curriculum that gives advice on money and business. In these weekly classes, participants are led through the process of getting their finances in order so that they can experience peace in their financial lives. Save . . . Spend . . . Give are three big teaching points of Dave Ramsey’s financial programs. I’ve written in the past about watching my father write a check, my parents tithe to the church every week, and how although our giving methods have changed greatly through the years, the tithe is something I still believe in and practice. United Methodist Bishop Robert Schnase says “those who consistently practice the tithe know that proportional giving (giving a set percentage of income) and tithing force people to look at their earning, saving and spending through God’s eyes.” I think God wants all of us to have financial peace in our lives, and I want to encourage you in your own work toward that goal. Please call me at 817/339-5098 with any questions. I look forward to telling you more! Click here to make an online gift to our church.
