SUMMARY:UMW Sunday
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, September 21\, 2025\n9:00 am – 12:30 pm | During the Gathering and Traditional Worship\nCelebrate in the Gathering and Traditional worship services.\nInformation tables in the garden area.\n\nWhat is UMW?\nUnited Methodist Women is a large denominational faith organization committed to the service and support of women\, youth\, and children in need within our community and church. They give countless hours of volunteer service to various organizations and financial support as well. Most importantly\, we are a community of women who develop authentic and supportive friendships. UMW is one large organization and also has smaller groups\, or “Circles.” for members to belong. No matter your personality\, age\, stage of life or schedule\, there is a Circle for you! The isolation of our busy modern lives has led many\, even those who know many people\, to be lonely. Because we were created by God to be in community with Him and with others\, being part of a community is as important as food\, water and shelter to our mental and physical health. This year\, our UMW will be focused on Community: friendship\, faith and service. Our hope is for every woman to be in community where she has authentic friendships\, people who are there for her family\, grow our faith together and serve one another and those in need\, together. We hope that you if you do not have that kind of Community\, you will join us on UMW Sunday to learn more about what it means to be in authentic community with others and how UMW can help you find yours. The UMW women will be in the garden with information between and after services. So please join us for children’s activities\, information about UMW\, treats and the chance to find the Circle that’s right for you.You may also find more information all year long on our webpage fumcfw.org/umw and on our social media channels @umwfumcfw.

SUMMARY:2026 Nominations for Church Leadership Committees
DESCRIPTION:Nominations will be accepted:\nSunday\, August 17th at 8:00 am – Sunday\, September 14th\, closing at midnight.\nA unique feature of the United Methodist Church is the active leadership of laypeople—those who aren’t clergy but are deeply involved in the life of the church. At First Church\, laity help guide our mission and shape key decisions. \nThis happens through leadership committees that meet throughout the year. Members serve on a rotating basis\, typically for 3–4 years\, bringing fresh insight and new energy to the table. \nThe leadership committees include: \nFinance Committee\nBoard of Trustees\nStaff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)\nBoard of Stewards\nCommittee on Lay Leadership\nLay Members to Annual Conference\nChurch Council \n\nClick here to view the current committees and their roles.\n  \nWe aim for diverse leadership across all boards\, welcoming people of all ages\, from multiple worshipping communities and ministries\, and with varying lengths of membership. If you or someone you know would be a great fit\, fill out the interest form on our website or contact the church office. \nWe’re excited to see how our leaders help our church grow and thrive! \nNominate Someone\nNominations are now closed.

SUMMARY:Camp Barnabas 2025
DESCRIPTION:July 12 – July 18\, 2025\n9:00 am – 7:00 pm | Camp Barnabas at Teas Trail\n$500 per student | Registration Required by June 30\nThis amazing trip takes our students to Camp Barnabas\, a fantastic camp in Missouri that is specifically designed to give children with disabilities and chronic illnesses an opportunity to experience summer camp – and it doesn’t happen without teenagers like ours who help run the camp and serve one-on-one with campers attending the camp! It is a powerful experience of selflessness\, service\, empathy\, and love. \nRising 9th graders serve as “Barnstormers” that help support the camp and the camper cabins without being directly responsible for one individual camper. Rising 10th-12th graders\, graduated seniors and college students serve as “Counselors” and are partnered with a camper one-on-one as their primary caregiver all week. \nThis year\, we will be serving children ages 7-18 who have a variety of diagnoses\, including physical disabilities\, developmental disabilities\, and autism. \nFor more information about Camp Barnabas or to inquire about a spot\, please contact Claire. Please note that you must additionally complete Camp Barnabas’ registration on their website in order to attend camp. Full and partial scholarships are always available to help cover the costs of trips and retreats through the Chris Vardy Memorial Scholarship Fund. Contact Mirta for more information. \nRegister\nRegistration is now closed.

SUMMARY:High School Mission Trip 2025
DESCRIPTION:June 15 – June 21\, 2025\n9:00 am – 7:00 pm | Baton Rouge\, LA\n$450 per student\nHigh School Mission Trip is our annual adventure with rising 9th-12th grade students and our graduated seniors to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world! This year\, we are so excited to announce that we will be heading back to Baton Rouge and will be serving with Revive225 again! We had an incredible time last year and loved the work we got to be part of in the community. \nBecause Mission Trip is a very popular event with limited space\, we will stagger opening registration by grade\, with registration beginning for: \nSeniors — February 10\nJuniors — February 11\nSophomores — February 12\nFreshmen — February 13\n8th Graders — February 14 \nNOTE: In order for us to guarantee that this trip will be possible\, we need a minimum of 4 male and 4 female adult volunteers to be registered and committed to partnering with us by the end of Spring Break (March 23). If we are unable to reach our required number of adult partners by this time\, we will need to consider hard capping the number of students who can participate\, or canceling this event. \nFor more information about Mission Trip\, please contact Claire. Scholarships are always available to help cover the cost of trips and retreats through the Chris Vardy Memorial Scholarship Fund. Contact Mirta for more information. \n\nRegister\nRegistration is now closed.
