SUMMARY:2027 Nominations for Church Leadership Committees
DESCRIPTION:Nominations will be accepted: \nSunday\, August 23rd | 8:00 am – Sunday\, September 20th\, closing at midnight\nA unique feature of the United Methodist Church is the active leadership of laypeople—those who aren’t clergy but are deeply involved in the life of the church. At First Church\, laity help guide our mission and shape key decisions. \nThis happens through leadership committees that meet throughout the year. Members serve on a rotating basis\, typically for 3–4 years\, bringing fresh insight and new energy to the table. \nThe leadership committees include:\nFinance Committee\nBoard of Trustees\nStaff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)\nBoard of Stewards\nCommittee on Lay Leadership\nLay Members to Annual Conference\nChurch Council\nClick here to view the current committees and their roles\nWe aim for diverse leadership across all boards\, welcoming people of all ages\, from multiple worshipping communities and ministries\, and with varying lengths of membership. If you or someone you know would be a great fit\, fill out the interest form on our website or contact the church office. \nWe’re excited to see how our leaders help our church grow and thrive! \n  \nNominate\n\n\n \n \n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Δ\n \n \n\n \n Your Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Phone*NominationI would like to recommend:*For the position of:*\n \n Finance Committee\n \n \n Board of Trustees\n \n \n Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)\n \n \n Board of Stewards\n \n \n Committee on Lay Leadership\n \n \n Lay Members to Annual Conference\n \n \n Church Council\n For the following reasons:*Would you like to nominate another person?*\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n 2nd NominationI would like to recommend:*For the position of:*\n \n Finance Committee\n \n \n Board of Trustees\n \n \n Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)\n \n \n Board of Stewards\n \n \n Committee on Lay Leadership\n \n \n Lay Members to Annual Conference\n \n \n Church Council\n For the following reasons:*Would you like to nominate another person?*\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n 3rd NominationI would like to recommend:*For the position of:*\n \n Finance Committee\n \n \n Board of Trustees\n \n \n Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC)\n \n \n Board of Stewards\n \n \n Committee on Lay Leadership\n \n \n Lay Members to Annual Conference\n \n \n Church Council\n For the following reasons:*CAPTCHA\n Submit

SUMMARY:In the Beginnings: An Eleven:Eleven Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays | September 15 – December 15 (No meeting on November 24)\n5:30 – 6:30 pm\nLibrary | Zoom\nLed by Pastor Kagan Parker & Rev. Dr. Jenn Pick\nRegistration Requested\nA garden. A flood. A tower. Long lists of names. Genesis opens with eleven chapters that happen before anything we would call history\, and they are stranger than most of us were taught. \nNobody eats an apple. Nobody loses a rib. There are two creation accounts\, and they do not agree with each other\, and the flood gets told twice by two different hands. None of that is a problem to fix. It is a clue about who was writing\, when\, and what they needed these stories to do. \nWe will read slowly and out loud. We will also ask what later readers have laid on top of these chapters\, because those readings still shape who gets blamed\, who gets welcomed\, and who gets to lead. \nGeared toward Eleven:Eleven folks who are ready for deep conversation. If you have never cracked open a Bible in your life\, you are not behind. Bring your questions. \nNo homework. Bring a Bible\, and if you do not have one\, we will put one in your hands. \nContacts: Kagan & Jenn \n  \nRegister\n\n \n \n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Δ\n \n \n\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Phone*Email*\n \n Do you need a Bible?*\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n CAPTCHA\n Submit

We’ve learned to find joy in small gifts and we teach each other to hold onto those joys as we all move toward the inevitable.” — Antoinette

SUMMARY:Wednesday Night Bible Study — Daniel
DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays | September 9 – December 16\, 2026\n(Please note that we will not meet on November 25)\n6:00 – 7:15 pm\nRoom 336 | Zoom\nRegistration Requested\nHow do we remain faithful when the world around us is constantly trying to shape who we are? \nThis fall\, join us as we journey through the Book of Daniel—a story of courage\, identity\, hope\, and trust in uncertain times. Set during the Babylonian exile but written for a people facing oppression centuries later\, Daniel speaks powerfully to anyone wondering how to live with integrity in a changing world. \nTogether we’ll explore the familiar stories of the fiery furnace and the lions’ den\, as well as Daniel’s mysterious visions and dreams. Along the way\, we’ll discover how this remarkable book encourages us to remember who we are\, even when culture\, politics\, fear\, or uncertainty try to rename us. \nWhether you’ve studied Daniel before or are opening it for the first time\, come ready for thoughtful conversation\, historical insight\, and practical reflection on what it means to live faithfully today. No “homework.” The only thing you need to bring is a Bible. Registration is requested. \nWednesdays at 6:00 pm beginning September 9. SUMMARY:Women's Study: The History of Early Christianities
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays | September 10 – December 10\, 2026 | No class on November 26\n10:00 – 11:00 am | Church Library\nRegistration Requested\nWhat happened after the book of Acts? Join us as we explore the fascinating first centuries of the Jesus movement and discover how a small group of followers grew into a global faith. Together we’ll examine the questions and controversies that shaped the early church\, the Jewish roots that continue to ground our worship\, the often-overlooked voices of women in the movement\, and the wide variety of texts that circulated among early communities. We’ll also trace the centuries-long process by which the New Testament we know today came to be. Come with your curiosity\, your questions\, and your own faith story. SUMMARY:Thursday Bible Study: Mark\, Part 2
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays | September 10 – December 17\, 2026\n(Please note that the class will not meet on November 26)\nNoon – 1:15 pm\nRoom 336 | Zoom\nRegistration Requested\nLed by Rev. Dr. Jenn Pick\nThe second half of Mark’s Gospel has a rhythm all its own. The road turns toward Jerusalem\, the questions grow sharper\, and following Jesus becomes more complicated\, courageous\, and costly. \nBeginning September 10\, we will explore Mark 9–16 together\, reading closely\, asking honest questions\, and paying attention to the details that make this Gospel both unsettling and alive. We will walk with disciples who do not always understand\, encounter people who see what others miss\, and follow the story toward the cross\, the empty tomb\, and an ending that still asks something of its readers. \nYou do not need to have attended our study of chapters 1–8. These chapters form a distinct movement within Mark\, and learners of every experience level are warmly welcomed. \nThere is no homework and no preparation required. Simply bring your Bible\, your questions\, and your willingness to learn alongside others. \nRegistration is requested so that we can prepare the room and welcome you well. \nJoin Zoom\n  \nRegister\n\n \n \n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Δ\n \n \n\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Phone*Will you need childcare?*\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n Please list the names and ages of all children*How will you attend?*\n \n \n In Person\n \n \n \n Zoom\n CAPTCHA\n Submit

SUMMARY:Opportunities to Serve
DESCRIPTION:Weekly\nAs Christians\, we are called to share God’s love with others. By giving of our time\, our talents\, and our gifts\, we show by example what it means to “go out and be God’s people in the world\,” and in so doing\, we enrich the lives of those we serve — even as our own lives are enriched by the experience of connecting with God and one another through our gifts and our service. The many ministries of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth offer a wide array of opportunities to become part of this exciting\, dynamic and impactful community of service. \nServe in the Sanctuary     Serve in Welcoming Ministry      Other Opportunities to Serve

SUMMARY:2026 Fall Academy Sunday School Registration
DESCRIPTION:Sundays\, August 30 – December 20\n9:20 – 10:45\nRegistration begins on Monday\, July 27\nWe are about to begin a new semester of our super-fun and content-rich Children’s Academy Sunday School for Children Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Once enrolled in Academy classes\, children will stay in the same rooms with the same teachers all semester. Some classes are designed for younger elementary and some for older elementary. 5th Grade has its own class\, called High Five. While the subject areas are varied\, each class will work from the same Bible story and memory verse each month. \n  \nContact: Megan Ladd \n Class Descriptions\n  \n\nPlay Together\, Pray Together | K – 1st\nPlay is the work of childhood. Play is how children make sense of the world and their place in it. Children will explore the great stories and ideas of our faith through play. They won’t just build with Legos\, but with GIANT Legos. They’ll play GIANT Bible board games where the children themselves are the game pieces. Ten Commandments Hopscotch\, model train layouts of Bible stories\, and so much more. \nThreadbare Puppet Studio | K – 1st\nOur church has a national reputation for our innovative use of puppetry — from shadow puppets to giant processional puppets\, to the beloved Wendell and Lorraine. Children build different kinds of puppets out of household objects\, and even put on puppet shows. \nMad Scientists | K – 2nd\nIs your child fascinated with how things work? It doesn’t get much more hands-on than Mad Scientists\, where children explore the wonder of God’s world through numerous fun experiments\, writing in their log books (prayer journals)\, and even taking care of live animals and plants. \nCreation Care | K – 2nd\nChildren explore the values of care\, kindness\, gentleness\, and responsibility as they take care of several classroom plants and animals. The class helps reinforce the important role children play in caring for God’s world and for one another. \nDig In | 2nd – 4th\nThis room is a real dig site! Children search for scripture tablets and Bible artifacts. They scour the entire Children’s Wing for hidden code breakers and clues. No two weeks are alike in Dig In. It’s Indiana Jones-meets-Sunday morning. \nFaith In Action | 2nd – 4th\nWe’re bringing back an old favorite. In Faith in Action children take the stage to play improv and theatre games\, put on costumes to act out Bible stories\, and use instruments to create a Bible story “radio show.” The children become a part of the story! \nWorkshop of Wonders (W.O.W.) | 2nd – 4th\nThis class is part Sunday School\, part Children’s Museum. There are times when the whole group will sit together to experience a Bible story\, a prayer\, and a devotion based on one of the Workshop of Wonders activities. And there will be plenty of time for children to explore what they choose to at their own pace. They can build ramps and marble runs\, experiment at the Light Laboratory\, see what can fly at the Flight Lab\, and much more. \nVisual Arts | 2nd – 4th\nChildren paint\, sculpt\, mold\, and build. Their work is featured throughout the Children’s Wing as well as in worship. This is no mere “Sunday School craft class.” These kids make art! \nTherapy Dogs | 3rd – 4th\nA hit since they first joined us\, our therapy dog teams are back! Children work with trainers and real therapy dogs each week. This class explores some of the many ways therapy dog teams exhibit the Christian traits — love\, peace\, patience\, kindness\, forgiveness\, acceptance — we all should have. Because we have actual live dogs in this class\, a requirement is that your child not be allergic to dogs. \nHigh Five | 5th\nALL our Fifth Graders have their own class. They explore their faith through Testament\, our creative journaling\, and holy conversation curriculum. They also have time to hang out with friends in a cool environment that they get to help design. SUMMARY:Adult Sunday School
DESCRIPTION:Every Sunday morning\, groups of adults meet in FUMCFW Sunday School Classes to enhance their spiritual growth and enjoy fellowship with other Christians. We have classes for a variety of demographic groups\, with many different class personalities and styles. \nIf you are interested in participating in any of these classes\, please contact: \nRev. Dr. Jenn Pick \n\nAll Ages\n\nSunday Book Chat | 9:30 am  | Room 332 \nAre a “book lover” and would enjoy conversations with others about what you are reading? Participants will need to purchase (or borrow) the chosen book and come prepared to discuss the chapter or sections for that day. Most books will be covered in three-to-five-week discussions\, so feel free to make a short term commitment (one book) or stay for all! \nWesley Bible Study | 9:30 am | Room 340-341\nThis class is a weekly in-depth Bible study for life-long learners. Most Sundays the discussion is led by a candidate for ordained ministry and a brilliant Bible scholar Evve Kuykendall. Our calendar always includes casual lunch get-togethers. \nGathered | 10:15 | Room 320\nA discussion-based class for those looking to connect with fellow Gathering friends.  Come meet new people and explore the scriptures and sermon themes through a different lens.\n \nYoung and Middle Adults\n\nOpen Door | 9:30 am | Room 320\nCouples or singles\, all are welcome to join with other parents for a time of socializing and discussion of topics that are important to us at this life stage of building faith-centered families and raising small children. We usually have several opportunities for service projects (some with our children joining in) and socials. \nAldersgate | 9:30 am | Room 333\nWe are parents of older children and love a good discussion! We engage in monthly service opportunities\, including Second Sunday at the First Street Methodist Mission and several social gatherings throughout the year. \nGenesis | 9:30 am | Room 351\nOur class is primarily made up of late 30’s\, early 40’s couples and singles\, most with elementary-aged children or youth. Topics range from biblical studies to issues related to families to social concerns. We have some fun gatherings planned through the year. \nMiddle and Older Adults\n\nGood Neighbors/Koinonia | 9:30 am | Room 231\nThe name Good Neighbors says a lot about who we are: caring for each other\, serving others. We would describe ourselves as “an active and lively group who loves to learn\, think\, and express many different opinions”. The most unique thing about this class is its “Big Personality”! Our conversations range from social issues\, community concerns\, current events\, and biblical studies. We enjoy social events and hands-on service opportunities. \nRooted | 11:00 am | Room 333\nAdult class ranging in ages from 55 and up. Couples and singles are welcome. The class goal is to become rooted in the Bible\, through bible study by book\, topic\, and theme. The class encourages lively discussion and differences of opinion. There is a monthly dinner out and several socials during the year. \nInquirers | 9:30 am | Room 352\nOur weekly conversations range in topics from biblical studies to social concerns. We invite presenters from the leadership of our church and wider community. We put a lot of emphasis on supporting church outreach programs. Our calendar includes social occasions\, monthly dinners and monthly Ladies Coffee. \nLoyalty | 9:30 am | Room 334\nThis class includes new friends and some of the longest-participating members of our church. We invite engaging speakers from both church members and community speakers. We support a number of service agencies\, and enjoy gatherings for food and fellowship. \nFirst Talks | 9:30 am | Room 310 & Zoom\nFirst Talks is a discussion group formed around weekly TedTalk presentations. A range of opinions and experience make for a great discussion of timely issues.

SUMMARY:UMW October Dinner | From Neighbors to Strangers: How We Lost the Tie That Binds
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, October 6\, 2026\n6:00 – 7:30 pm | Wesley Hall\n$25 | Registration opens on August 31 | Registration Required by September 28\nDr. Rita Kirk\nWe live in an area where trust in our institutions—government\, media\, medicine\, and even the church—has reached historic lows. Drawing on four decades of research in political communications and a fellowship at Harvard’s Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics\, Dr. Kirk will trace the unraveling of the social fabric that once held communities together. This won’t be a talk about politics\, but about the human bonds that make democratic life possible and what we must do to restore them. \nFor more information about any program\, please contact Joy Brandon\, VP Programs; for the two Special Events\, contact Cheryl Spencer; and for Service Days\, contact Annette Stamper\, Service Chair. \nOnce-a-year evening meeting\, open to everyone\, including men! \n  \nRegister\n\n \n \n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Δ\n \n \n\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n How are you paying?*\n \n \n Online right now (preferred method)\n \n \n \n At the door\n # of tickets being purchased (including your own) Quantity*\n \n \n Price:\n $25.00\n \n \n Quantity \n Name(s) of guests (if applicable) (not including yourself)Click the "+" button to the right to add multliple names Add RemoveTotal due at the door\n \n Donation (optional)\n \n PaymentTotal due\n \n Credit Card*\n \n Cardholder Name\n \n \n Card Details\n \n Billing Address* \n \n \n \n Street Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n AlabamaAlaskaAmerican SamoaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaGuamHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaNorthern Mariana IslandsOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaPuerto RicoRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahU.S. Virgin IslandsVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingArmed Forces AmericasArmed Forces EuropeArmed Forces Pacific\n State\n \n \n ZIP Code\n \n \n This field is hidden when viewing the formSection BreakCAPTCHA\n Submit \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n
