SUMMARY:Pastor's Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays | January 15 – May 14\, 2026\n12:00 – 1:00 pm | Room 336 | Zoom\nRegistration Requested\nMost scholars agree that the Gospel of Mark was the first gospel written\, though Matthew comes first in our Bibles. Mark is an odd text. It’s abrupt and sometimes clumsy. The text wants to hurry the reader through the story as if its author can’t wait for us to know all the things it contains. With that said\, the Gospel of Mark is astonishing in its complexity and its allusiveness. For most of Christian history\, Mark was the neglected Gospel. Yet reading this gospel along with current events\, Mark is remarkably apt for our times. Join us on Thursdays as we walk through this fascinating\, relevant gospel together. There is no homework for this class and no required reading materials. All you need to bring is yourself\, your Bible\, your questions and your thinking caps! \n  \nRegister\n\n\n \n \n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Δ\n \n \n\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Phone*

SUMMARY:Moms' Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays | January 22 – April 30\, 2026\n9:30 – 10:30 am | The Library\nRegistration Requested\nYou’re invited to a time of Bible study and solidarity for moms. This semester\, we’ll be diving into the bold and beautiful story of Esther. In a world that often tries to quiet women’s voices\, Esther reminds us that God speaks powerfully through women’s courage\, wisdom\, and everyday faithfulness. Together\, we’ll explore how God works through our ordinary lives. \nThis study is a space for honest conversation\, laughter\, prayer\, and support as we listen for God’s call in our own stories. Come as you are—tired\, hopeful\, overwhelmed\, curious—and find strength in Scripture and in one another. We’ll meet weekly on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. in the church library. Your voice matters here; your story and strength are gifts to this community. \n  \nRegister\n\n \n \n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Δ\n \n \n\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Phone*

SUMMARY:Wednesday Night Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays | January 14 – May 13\, 2026\n6:00 – 7:00 pm | Room 336 | Zoom\nChildcare Available | Registration Requested\nDuring this Easter season\, we will move on to the book of Daniel. The Book of Daniel is a rich and complex text set during the Babylonian exile\, when the people of Israel were living under foreign rule\, far from home\, and wrestling with questions of identity\, faithfulness\, and hope. It follows Daniel and his companions as they navigate life in the courts of powerful empires—Babylon and Persia—while remaining rooted in their covenant with God. \nDaniel is unique because it blends multiple genres. The first half (chapters 1–6) reads like court tales—narrative stories of faith under pressure: refusing royal food\, surviving the fiery furnace\, and the lions’ den. These stories highlight courage\, resistance\, and God’s faithfulness in the midst of political and cultural tension. \nThe second half (chapters 7–12) shifts into apocalyptic literature\, filled with dreams\, visions\, symbolic beasts\, and cosmic upheaval. This genre uses vivid imagery to reveal deeper spiritual truths: that even when earthly kingdoms seem dominant\, God’s reign is ultimate and enduring. Apocalyptic writing often emerges in times of crisis\, offering hope not by denying reality\, but by reframing it through God’s larger story. \nFor us today\, Daniel speaks into moments when faith feels countercultural\, when the world feels unstable\, or when we wonder how to live with integrity in systems we did not choose. It invites us to consider: How do we remain faithful without withdrawing? How do we trust God when outcomes are uncertain? And how might hope take shape—not as easy optimism\, but as resilient\, imaginative trust in God’s ongoing work? \nThere is no homework for this class and no required reading materials. We will read and discuss the text together in depth each week. \n  \nRegister\n\n \n \n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Δ\n \n \n\n \n Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email\n \n PhoneWill you need childcare?*\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n Please list the names and ages of all children*

SUMMARY:Adult Sunday School
DESCRIPTION:Every Sunday morning\, groups of adults meet in FUMCFW Sunday School Classes to enhance their spiritual growth and enjoy fellowship with other Christians. We have classes for a variety of demographic groups\, with many different class personalities and styles. \nIf you are interested in participating in any of these classes\, please contact: \nRev. Dr. Jenn Pick \n\nAll Ages\n\nSunday Book Chat | 9:30 am  | Room 332 \nAre a “book lover” and would enjoy conversations with others about what you are reading? Participants will need to purchase (or borrow) the chosen book and come prepared to discuss the chapter or sections for that day. Most books will be covered in three-to-five-week discussions\, so feel free to make a short term commitment (one book) or stay for all! \nWesley Bible Study | 9:30 am | Room 340-341\nThis class is a weekly in-depth Bible study for life-long learners. Most Sundays the discussion is led by a candidate for ordained ministry and a brilliant Bible scholar Evve Kuykendall. Our calendar always includes casual lunch get-togethers. \nYoung and Middle Adults\n\nOpen Door | 9:30 am | Room 320\nCouples or singles\, all are welcome to join with other parents for a time of socializing and discussion of topics that are important to us at this life stage of building faith-centered families and raising small children. We usually have several opportunities for service projects (some with our children joining in) and socials. \nAldersgate | 9:30 am | Room 333\nWe are parents of older children and love a good discussion! We engage in monthly service opportunities\, including Second Sunday at the First Street Methodist Mission and several social gatherings throughout the year. \nGenesis | 9:30 am | Room 351\nOur class is primarily made up of late 30’s\, early 40’s couples and singles\, most with elementary-aged children or youth. Topics range from biblical studies to issues related to families to social concerns. We have some fun gatherings planned through the year. \nMiddle and Older Adults\n\nGood Neighbors/Koinonia | 9:30 am | Room 231\nThe name Good Neighbors says a lot about who we are: caring for each other\, serving others. We would describe ourselves as “an active and lively group who loves to learn\, think\, and express many different opinions”. The most unique thing about this class is its “Big Personality”! Our conversations range from social issues\, community concerns\, current events\, and biblical studies. We enjoy social events and hands-on service opportunities. \nRooted | 11:00 am | Room 333\nAdult class ranging in ages from 55 and up. Couples and singles are welcome. The class goal is to become rooted in the Bible\, through bible study by book\, topic\, and theme. The class encourages lively discussion and differences of opinion. There is a monthly dinner out and several socials during the year. \nInquirers | 9:30 am | Room 352\nOur weekly conversations range in topics from biblical studies to social concerns. We invite presenters from the leadership of our church and wider community. We put a lot of emphasis on supporting church outreach programs. Our calendar includes social occasions\, monthly dinners and monthly Ladies Coffee. \nLoyalty | 9:30 am | Room 334\nThis class includes new friends and some of the longest-participating members of our church. We invite engaging speakers from both church members and community speakers. We support a number of service agencies\, and enjoy gatherings for food and fellowship. \nFirst Talks | 9:30 am | Room 310 & Zoom\nFirst Talks is a discussion group formed around weekly TedTalk presentations. A range of opinions and experience make for a great discussion of timely issues.

All students entering 7th – 12th grade in the fall are welcome to join us for donuts and lemonade before Sunday School. \nEveryone will engage in the same series each week\, which will be tied into what the larger church community is focused on\, helping bridge the gap across 5th Street! \nThe first week in each series will be Youth Worship – a worship service for youth in the Justin that will use the Gathering’s model and feature a message from one of the youth staff. The following weeks\, we’ll open with announcements and worship before splitting into age-based breakout groups led by adult volunteers for discussion\, all centered around the series we’re currently digging into.

SUMMARY:2026 Spring Academy Sunday School Registration
DESCRIPTION:Sundays\, February 1 – May 10\nIn-person registration begins on Sunday\, January 4 in the Children’s Wing\nOnline registration will begin Monday\, January 5 at 9:00 am\nWe are about to begin a new semester of our super-fun and content-rich Children’s Academy Sunday School for Children Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Once enrolled in Academy classes\, children will stay in the same rooms with the same teachers all semester. Some classes are designed for younger elementary and some for older elementary. 5th Grade has its own class\, called High Five. While the subject areas are varied\, each class will work from the same Bible story and memory verse each month. \n  \nContact: Megan Ladd \n Class Descriptions\n  \nThreadbare Puppet Studio | K – 1st\nOur church has a national reputation for our innovative use of puppetry — from shadow puppets to giant processional puppets\, to the beloved Wendell and Lorraine. Children build different kinds of puppets out of household objects\, and even put on puppet shows.\n\nWorkshop of Wonders (W.O.W.) | 2nd – 4th\nThis class is part Sunday School\, part Children’s Museum. There are times when the whole group will sit together to experience a Bible story\, a prayer\, and a devotion based on one of the Workshop of Wonders activities. And there will be plenty of time for children to explore what they choose to at their own pace. They can build ramps and marble runs\, experiment at the Light Laboratory\, see what can fly at the Flight Lab\, and much more.\n\nMad Scientists | K – 2nd\nIs your child fascinated with how things work? It doesn’t get much more hands-on than Mad Scientists\, where children explore the wonder of God’s world through numerous fun experiments\, writing in their log books (prayer journals)\, and even taking care of live animals and plants.\n\nCreation Care | K – 2nd\nChildren explore the values of care\, kindness\, gentleness\, and responsibility as they take care of several classroom plants and animals. The class helps reinforce the important role children play in caring for God’s world and for one another.\n\nDig In | 2nd – 4th\nThis room is a real dig site! Children search for scripture tablets and Bible artifacts. They scour the entire Children’s Wing for hidden code breakers and clues. No two weeks are alike in Dig In. It’s Indiana Jones-meets-Sunday morning.\n\nFaith In Action | 2nd – 4th\nWe’re bringing back an old favorite. In Faith in Action children take the stage to play improv and theatre games\, put on costumes to act out Bible stories\, and use instruments to create a Bible story “radio show.” The children become a part of the story!\n\nPlay Together\, Pray Together | K – 1st\nPlay is the work of childhood. Play is how children make sense of the world and their place in it. Children will explore the great stories and ideas of our faith through play. They won’t just build with Legos\, but with GIANT Legos. They’ll play GIANT Bible board games where the children themselves are the game pieces. Ten Commandments Hopscotch\, model train layouts of Bible stories\, and so much more.\n\nThe Visual Arts | 2nd – 4th\nChildren paint\, sculpt\, mold\, and build. Their work is featured throughout the Children’s Wing as well as in worship. This is no mere “Sunday School craft class.” These kids make art!\n\nTherapy Dogs | 3rd – 4th\nA hit since they first joined us\, our therapy dog teams are back! Children work with trainers and real therapy dogs each week. This class explores some of the many ways therapy dog teams exhibit the Christian traits — love\, peace\, patience\, kindness\, forgiveness\, acceptance — we all should have. Because we have actual live dogs in this class\, a requirement is that your child not be allergic to dogs.\n\nHigh Five | 5th\nALL our Fifth Graders have their own class. They explore their faith through Testament\, our creative journaling\, and holy conversation curriculum. SUMMARY:The Daily Labyrinth: A Lenten Devotional
DESCRIPTION:February 18 – April 5\, 2026\nCompanion to “Plot Twists: Stories of Unsettling Grace”\nIntroduction: Lent is not a race to Easter. It is an unfolding story—one that refuses to move in a straight line. \nThis season leads us through moments we think we understand\, only to surprise us with a turn we did not see coming. Dust becomes the beginning of breath. Loss opens into life. The cross does not end the story. Grace interrupts where we expected resolution. \nThis year\, we walk the labyrinth together—a path shaped by turns rather than shortcuts. The labyrinth does not test us or trick us; it invites us to trust the path beneath our feet. Like the parables Jesus told\, it draws us forward through reversals and interruptions\, teaching us that God often works through surprise rather than certainty. \nAs we journey through Lent\, we will listen again to stories marked by plot twists: seeds scattered without guarantee\, lost things found in celebration\, grace that feels unfair yet proves abundant\, love that grows quietly until it shelters the world. Each story begins in familiar ground and then turns\, asking us to see differently and live more deeply. \nThe path is not meant to be hurried. You may feel turned around at times—but disorientation is often where transformation begins. In God’s time\, what feels like circling becomes a deeper movement inward\, and every unexpected turn becomes an invitation into grace. \nWalk slowly. Pay attention to the turns. Trust the story still unfolding. \nHow to Use This Devotional Each day offers three simple movements: \n\n Scripture: A single verse to center your attention and prayer.\nWandering Deeper: A brief reflection or small action to guide your contemplation. Some are inward\, others outward — each is an invitation\, not an obligation.\n Prayer: A few lines to speak aloud or hold in silence.\n\n\nSundays are marked as “Little Easters.” They are pauses in the Lenten fast — reminders that even in the wilderness\, resurrection hums beneath the surface. Use these days for rest\, joy\, and gratitude. You can walk this journey alone or with others. Families may adapt the reflections with simple gestures: lighting a candle\, planting a seed\, sharing one word of gratitude. The point is not to finish perfectly but to stay open to grace. \nThe God who formed you from dust will walk beside you through every turn — calling you deeper\, not farther; wider\, not faster; homeward\, not elsewhere. \n\n\nDaily Devotional

SUMMARY:Opportunities to Serve
DESCRIPTION:Weekly\nAs Christians\, we are called to share God’s love with others. By giving of our time\, our talents\, and our gifts\, we show by example what it means to “go out and be God’s people in the world\,” and in so doing\, we enrich the lives of those we serve — even as our own lives are enriched by the experience of connecting with God and one another through our gifts and our service. The many ministries of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth offer a wide array of opportunities to become part of this exciting\, dynamic and impactful community of service. \nServe in the Sanctuary     Serve in Welcoming Ministry      Other Opportunities to Serve

SUMMARY:Good Friday Service
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, April 3\, 2026\n7:00 pm | Sanctuary\nTenebrae\, meaning “service of shadows” or “darkness\,” is a solemn retelling of Christ’s final hours through liturgy\, Scripture\, and music. This meaningful service gradually descends into darkness and concludes with the tearing of the veil and total silence. In remembering the cross\, we hold fast to the mystery that through suffering comes peace\, and through death\, new life.

SUMMARY:Family Good Friday Service
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, April 3\, 2026\n5:30 pm | Dinner | Third Floor\n6:15 pm | Worship | Wesley Hall\n“What Would Mister Rogers Tell Us?” \nSo often\, after a challenging event or during a challenging time\, I find myself asking\, “What does Mister Rogers have to say about this?” And then I go find out. I look for video clips\, I read his biographies\, I research articles from the Fred Rogers Institute. \nOver and over\, his words have been a tremendous source of inspiration and encouragement\, especially during those times when I truly wonder if I have what it takes to help others through hard things. \nFrom that gentle soul\, and ordained Presbyterian minister\, we learn: \n• To “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”\n• “Anything mentionable can be made more manageable.”\n• “The only thing evil can’t stand is forgiveness.” \nThis Good Friday\, we will explore the story of the day Jesus died\, but in a slightly different way. We will invite Mister Rogers to share his words of comfort\, kindness\, and love so that we can have a deeper understanding of the beautiful\, hard thing Jesus did that night. And so we can walk away heartened to face the beautiful\, hard things that are part of our own human experience.
